UK Investor Visa
The UK welcomes investors from across the world able to inject capital of at least £2 million GBP into a business here. The Tier 1 Investor Visa provides an investor with a direct route to permanent residency and citizenship for themselves and their immediate family: in fact the higher the investment – the shorter the timescales and the greater the benefits.

- Your application will be based on your ability to invest £2 million in the UK
- There is no English speaking requirement for investors
- The investment sum may be gifted, so long as the relevant legal evidence is provided.
Permanent residency timescales for UK Investors
The higher the level of investment into a regulated UK financial institution, the shorter the period of continuous residency before becoming eligible to apply for permanent residency:
The continuous residency period is five years
- If you have capital of your own amounting to at least £2 million
- Or you own personal assets with a value of at least £2 million and you have at least £2 million under your control and disposable in the UK
The continuous residency period is three years
- If you have capital of your own amounting to at least £5 million
- Or you own personal assets with a value of at least £10 million and you have at least £5 million under your control and disposable in the UK.
The continuous residency period is two years
- If you have capital of your own amounting to at least £10 million
- Or you own personal assets with a value of at least £10 million and you have at least £10 million under your control and disposable in the UK.
Worth Noting for Investors
There are a handful of key areas which investors need to note surrounding this category – however there are no particularly onerous requirements; the capital investment itself is the main condition for the purposes of the Tier 1 Investor Visa.
- Continuous residency period means that you cannot be outside of the UK for more than 180 days in any 12 calendar months
- Your investment sum must be held in pounds sterling at the time of application
- Having access to capital which is under your control and disposable in the UK
